FIRST THINGS FIRST

“But seek first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”    Matthew 6:33

We live in a day where many ‘things’ call for our attention.  Although, we must fulfill our day to day responsibilities, we must practice living in today’s provision.  In our present society, there is a tremendous amount of importance placed upon future provision instead of present contentment, satisfaction, and thankfulness.  This has caused much worry and fear of what tomorrow holds rather than being grateful for today.

Jesus set Himself upon a mountain one day looking across the multitude of people who had followed Him.  His heart was full of love and compassion for them.  He knew they needed hope in their lives and because Hope (Jesus) was present, He began to teach them many things.

Jesus wanted them to know that they did not have to spend their days worrying about their physical needs.  He encouraged them to remember that God would supply their needs daily.  He told them that God already knew the needs they had and not to worry about them.  Jesus encouraged the crowds to not worry, fret, or fear about the future, but seek first the Kingdom of God and God’s righteousness and all their needs would be met.  Jesus went on to emphasize not to worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow would be taken care of when you get there.

ENCOURAGEMENT:  I encourage you to enjoy today’s provisions and be thankful for them.  Do not worry about tomorrow.  God will meet your needs in tomorrow.

Do not spend your days worrying over tomorrow, next month, next year, or ten years from now.  You do not want to miss the wonderful benefits of today!
