”The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God, And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain.” II Samuel 23:3 & 4
God thought it essential to speak a powerful word of encouragement for leadership through David. Leadership was on his mind….since leadership had been an important part of David’s life. David exuded leadership early in his life which patterned his career. David had many challenges, failures, and victories throughout his leadership years and God thought it of value to provide future generations with these powerful words in II Samuel 23:3 & 4, demonstrating powerful principles of leadership.
The principle of sowing and reaping within leadership is what David highlights with 2 characteristics that must be essentials to portray the position of leadership:
1. He that ruleth over men must be just…(honorable, fair in one’s dealing and actions)
2. Ruling in the fear of God…(extreme reverence and awe….toward a supreme power….knowing that we, who are leaders are responsible to God in a higher accountability….we have placed in responsibility of much)
Through the sowing of these 2 principles, David tells of the 2 rewards that will be reaped:
1. He shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth…
• Perpetual
• Shining
• Favor
• Fresh
• First
• Light, no darkness
2. He shall be as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain (in the clear sunlight after the rain)
• Always producing, productive (grass represents ~ law of reproduction)
• Prosperity
• Favor
• Unending
• Flourishes
• Steadfast
• Endures
Encouragement: Sowing Justice and Ruling in the Fear of God will Reap Supernatural Blessings!
As we look intently into the Word of God at these 2 principles sown, we can understand that they reap multiple, bountiful, above and beyond all we could ask or think supernatural blessings. God’s math and economy cannot be compared to man’s math and economy. God far exceeds what He will ever ask of us. What a powerful word of encouragement to leadership that David spoke then and now as we embrace these leadership principles from the Word of God.
